DATA SHEETS
Incremental Display Update
Map tiling is widespread in the delivery of online navigation information. DMT provides a mechanism to deliver faster access, use fewer resources and require smaller communication than current PNG tiling methods. This paper quantifies the benefits provided by DMT to a connected mobile device.
Incremental Navigation Update
DMT has been tested and applied successfully to a large range of navigation data formats. By permanently reducing the size of navigation and Point-of-Interest (POI) databases, while maintaining full access and editability over the data, end-users can now store more data and transmit files faster without the need to increase storage and hardware cost. This datasheet details the benefits provided by DMT for mobile navigation data.
WindSpring SDK
The WindSpring SDK is a scalable, high performance implementation of DMT for OEMs and software developers. DMT provides mobile phones, smartphones, mobile GPS navigation devices, and digital mapping applications with increased device storage capacity, faster data access and transmission, and reduced network cost. The WindSpring SDK provides the APIs and tools required to allow the OEM to quickly and easily integrate DMT into their applications. This datasheet provides an introduction to the SDK and its use.
ANALYSTS
Frost & Sullivan - Technology Innovation Customer Value Enhancement Award
WindSpring technology is changing how data is stored and retrieved. WindSpring’s DMT technology adds value for customers by offering several advantages. These include miniaturizing and transforming large files into MDF, enabling high speed data search, edit, transfer and display, and allowing edit-in-place, update-in-place – all while the data remains in the miniaturized state.
WHITE PAPERS
Data Miniaturization Technology for Mobile Phones and Smartphones
DMT provides mobile phones and smartphones with increased device storage capacity, faster data access and transmission, and reduced network cost. This whitepaper provides an introduction to the problems encountered in data storage in mobile devices and the solutions that DMT can provide. A number of examples are provided.
Mobile Device Displays
Most mobile navigation devices, including phones and PNDs, have limitations on the way that they can interact with the user. These display limitations are driven both by cost and battery life. Cost considerations typically dominate the amount of internal memory, the quality of the display and the method used to connect to on-line services. This white paper provides an introduction to the problems encountered in display presentations for mobile devices and the solutions that DMT can provide. A number of examples are provided.
Mobile GPS Navigation
Many mobile navigation devices have limitations imposed by storage capacity and network speed for on-board navigation application data, including map, POI and address databases. This white paper provides an introduction to the problems encountered in mobile GPS navigation and the solutions offered by DMT and highlights specific benefits to wireless GPS navigation service providers, application developers and subscribers. These benefits will assist these vendors in driving revenue through increased application and service adoption, and increased subscription price and usage.
Overview of Data Miniaturization Technology
This technical white paper provides an introduction to Data Miniaturization Technology (DMT), demonstrating DMT solutions for performance and cost problems in navigation and mobile storage applications. The paper provides descriptions of the theoretical basis and core processes that underpin the unique performance advantages of DMT. (Note: Access to this technical white paper is provided under the terms of your WindSpring NDA.)
Applying Data Miniaturization Technology to PNG Tiling
Most mobile navigation devices, including phones and PNDs, have limitations on the way that they interact with the user due to the constraints of the existing delivery methods. For example, map tiling is one of the most widespread in the delivery of online mapping and navigation information. DMT provides a mechanism to deliver faster access, use fewer resources and requires smaller communications than current PNG tiling methods. This technical white paper provides a detailed insight into the problems encountered in display presentation in Mobile Phone devices and the solutions that using DMT can provide. (Note: Access to this technical white paper is provided under the terms of your WindSpring NDA.)
