WindSpring's DMTools allow the developer complete control over access to the data in a consistent and transparent manner. While the libraries provide consistent APIs for read, edit, search and security, access to the data is further controlled to allow the programmer to manage the CODECs as well.



DMTools provides developers with the flexibility to access both uncompressed or compressed data without having to make changes within the application. Developers can choose to use one of the WindSpring CODEC’s or use third party media CODEC’s.

The developer can also access data through user-supplied media codecs.

Once selected, the developer can the use the performance monitor libraries to tune the access times and memory footprint of the CODEC.
