WindSpring's DMTools provides ready to run applications, modules and libraries to enable management of all aspects of data for space constrained devices. This includes compression, access, edit, security and performance.



DMTools allows the developer to select only the parts of the CODEC required for the application. In read-only systems, such as fixed maps, only the access and decompression modules are required. WindSpring provides modules for compression, edit, access, security and optimization. In addition, WindSpring can provide engineering services to enable integration of user supplied CODECS into WindSpring's data optimization framework.

WindSpring's libraries provide a consistent and familiar interface to the program. The libraries provide standard file APIs for open, read, write, tell and close operations on the file data. The libraries then control all aspects of access to the compressed data. Internally, the libraries manage the compressed block size, optimize the memory footprint and provide a complete file and data caching sub-system. The libraries can optionally implement a performance monitoring system for tracing all aspects of the data access. The resultant information enables the developer to understand critical performance issues and tune both application and caching for maximum embedded performance.
