Advanced Compression (DMT)

Advanced compression allows full access to data once a file has been compressed. Based on WindSpring’s patented data miniaturization technology (DMT™) and loss less Micro Data Format (MDF™) advanced compression allows editable application data to be manipulated in the miniaturized state.

ELIMINATES DOUBLE FOOTPRINTS

As illustrated in the figure below, compression does not allow access to data once a file has been compressed. In addition, the decompression process requires storage space availability for both the compressed and decompressed files on the target system. In contrast, advanced compression eliminates the need for a "double footprint".



ALLOWS INCREMENTAL UPDATES

DMT reduces the time to decode and access data for high speed GPS applications or similarly constrained applications. Allows Incremental Updates By allowing full access to MDF data, the data can be both edited and updated in place without replacing the entire database. Reduces Data Storage Requirements Using DMT and MDF, data never needs to be expanded to its original size, any data element can be directly accessed in its miniaturized MDF state, and data storage requirements are significantly reduced.
